Translation

«A medida que se riega la bhakti-latā-bīja, la semilla germina, y la enredadera crece hasta el punto de atravesar las paredes del universo e ir más allá del río Virajā, que se encuentra entre el mundo espiritual y el material. Llega a brahma-loka, la refulgencia del Brahman, y, atravesando ese estrato, llega al cielo espiritual y al planeta espiritual Goloka Vṛndāvana.

“As one waters the bhakti-latā-bīja, the seed sprouts, and the creeper gradually grows to the point where it penetrates the walls of this universe and goes beyond the Virajā River, lying between the spiritual world and the material world. It attains brahma-loka, the Brahman effulgence, and penetrating through that stratum, it reaches the spiritual sky and the spiritual planet Goloka Vṛndāvana.

Por lo general, las enredaderas se refugian en grandes árboles, pero la bhakti-latā-bīja, como enredadera de energía espiritual, no puede refugiarse en ningún planeta material, pues en ningún planeta material hay árboles que la enredadera bhakti-latā pueda utilizar como refugio. En otras palabras, el servicio devocional no se puede utilizar con ninguna finalidad material. El único objetivo del servicio devocional es la Suprema Personalidad de Dios. A veces, personas de escaso conocimiento sostienen que el bhakti también se puede aplicar a cosas materiales. En otras palabras, dicen que se puede ofrecer servicio devocional al propio país o a los semidioses. No es así; el servicio devocional puede ofrecerse únicamente a la Suprema Personalidad de Dios, y está más allá de la esfera material. Entre la naturaleza espiritual y material hay un río u océano causal, y ese río está libre de la influencia de las tres modalidades de la naturaleza material; por ello recibe el nombre de Virajā. El prefijo vi significa vigata («completamente erradicada»), y rajas significa «la influencia del mundo material». En ese nivel, la entidad viviente está completamente libre del enredo material. Para los jñānīs que quieren fundirse en la refulgencia del Brahman existe brahma-loka. La bhakti-latā, sin embargo, no tiene refugio alguno en el mundo material, ni tampoco en brahma-loka, pese a que brahma-loka está más allá del mundo material. La bhakti-latā crece hasta que llega al cielo espiritual, donde está situado Goloka Vṛndāvana.

A creeper generally takes shelter of a big tree, but the bhakti-latā, being the creeper of spiritual energy, cannot take shelter of any material planet, for there is no tree on any material planet that the bhakti creeper can utilize for shelter. In other words, devotional service cannot be utilized for any material purpose. Devotional service is meant only for the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Sometimes men with a poor fund of knowledge maintain that bhakti can be applied to material things also. In other words, they say that devotional service can be rendered to one’s country or to the demigods, but this is not a fact. Devotional service is especially meant for the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and it is beyond this material range. There is a river, or causal ocean, between the spiritual and material natures, and this river is free from the influence of the three modes of material nature; therefore it is called Virajā. The prefix vi means vigata (“completely eradicated”), and rajas means “the influence of the material world.” On this platform, a living entity is completely free from material entanglement. For the jñānīs who want to merge into the Brahman effulgence, there is Brahma-loka. The bhakti-latā, however, has no shelter in the material world, nor has it shelter in Brahma-loka, although Brahma-loka is beyond the material world. The bhakti-latā grows until it reaches the spiritual sky, where Goloka Vṛndāvana is situated.
