Attaining the Supreme

Dostizanje Svevišnjeg

TEXT 1:
Arjuna inquired: O my Lord, O Supreme Person, what is Brahman? What is the self? What are fruitive activities? What is this material manifestation? And what are the demigods? Please explain this to me.
STIH 1:
Arjuna upita: O Gospodine moj, o Vrhovna Osobo, što je Brahman? Što je jastvo? Što su plodonosne djelatnosti? Što je materijalno očitovanje i što su polubogovi? Molim Te, objasni mi.
TEXT 2:
Who is the Lord of sacrifice, and how does He live in the body, O Madhusūdana? And how can those engaged in devotional service know You at the time of death?
STIH 2:
Tko je gospodar žrtvovanja i kako živi u tijelu, o Madhusūdana? Kako Te oni koji predano služe mogu spoznati u trenutku smrti?
TEXT 3:
The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: The indestructible, transcendental living entity is called Brahman, and his eternal nature is called adhyātma, the self. Action pertaining to the development of the material bodies of the living entities is called karma, or fruitive activities.
STIH 3:
Svevišnja Božanska Osoba reče: Neuništivo, transcendentalno živo biće naziva se Brahman, a njegova vječna priroda adhyātma, jastvo. Djelovanje koje uzrokuje razvoj materijalnih tijela živih bića naziva se karma ili plodonosne djelatnosti.
TEXT 4:
O best of the embodied beings, the physical nature, which is constantly changing, is called adhibhūta [the material manifestation]. The universal form of the Lord, which includes all the demigods, like those of the sun and moon, is called adhidaiva. And I, the Supreme Lord, represented as the Supersoul in the heart of every embodied being, am called adhiyajña [the Lord of sacrifice].
STIH 4:
O najbolji od utjelovljenih bića, fizička priroda, koja se neprestano mijenja, naziva se adhibhūta [materijalno očitovanje]. Gospodinov kozmički oblik, koji obuhvaća sve polubogove, kao što su Sunce i Mjesec, naziva se adhidaiva, a Ja, Svevišnji Gospodin, kojeg predstavlja Nad-duša nazočna u srcu svakoga živog bića, nazivam se adhiyajña [gospodar žrtvovanja].
TEXT 5:
And whoever, at the end of his life, quits his body remembering Me alone at once attains My nature. Of this there is no doubt.
STIH 5:
Onaj tko na kraju života napusti svoje tijelo sjećajući se Mene odmah dostiže Moju prirodu. U to nema sumnje.
TEXT 6:
Whatever state of being one remembers when he quits his body, O son of Kuntī, that state he will attain without fail.
STIH 6:
O Kuntīn sine, kojega god da se stanja netko sjeća prilikom napuštanja tijela, to će stanje sigurno dostići.
TEXT 7:
Therefore, Arjuna, you should always think of Me in the form of Kṛṣṇa and at the same time carry out your prescribed duty of fighting. With your activities dedicated to Me and your mind and intelligence fixed on Me, you will attain Me without doubt.
STIH 7:
Stoga, Arjuna, trebaš uvijek misliti na Mene u obliku Kṛṣṇe i istodobno se boriti, tako obavljajući svoju propisanu dužnost. Posvećujući svoje djelatnosti Meni i usredotočujući um i inteligenciju na Mene, nedvojbeno ćeš Me dostići.
TEXT 8:
He who meditates on Me as the Supreme Personality of Godhead, his mind constantly engaged in remembering Me, undeviated from the path, he, O Pārtha, is sure to reach Me.
STIH 8:
Onaj tko meditira na Mene kao na Svevišnju Božansku Osobu i u umu se uvijek sjeća Mene, bez odstupanja, o Pārtha, sigurno će Me dostići.
TEXT 9:
One should meditate upon the Supreme Person as the one who knows everything, as He who is the oldest, who is the controller, who is smaller than the smallest, who is the maintainer of everything, who is beyond all material conception, who is inconceivable, and who is always a person. He is luminous like the sun, and He is transcendental, beyond this material nature.
STIH 9:
Osoba treba meditirati na Vrhovnu Osobu kao na biće koje zna sve, koje je najstarije, koje je upravitelj, koje je manje od najmanjeg, koje sve održava, koje je iznad dosega materijalnog poimanja, koje je nepojmljivo i koje je uvijek osoba. Blistavo je kao sunce i transcendentalno prema materijalnoj prirodi.
TEXT 10:
One who, at the time of death, fixes his life air between the eyebrows and, by the strength of yoga, with an undeviating mind, engages himself in remembering the Supreme Lord in full devotion, will certainly attain to the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
STIH 10:
Onaj tko u trenutku smrti uzdigne svoj životni zrak između obrva i zahvaljujući moći yoge s velikom se predanošću sjeća Svevišnjeg Gospodina, postojana uma, sigurno će dostići Svevišnju Božansku Osobu.
TEXT 11:
Persons who are learned in the Vedas, who utter oṁ-kāra, and who are great sages in the renounced order enter into Brahman. Desiring such perfection, one practices celibacy. I shall now briefly explain to you this process by which one may attain salvation.
STIH 11:
Učeni poznavatelji Veda, koji izgovaraju oṁkāru i koji su veliki mudraci u odvojenom redu života, ulaze u Brahman. Onaj tko želi dostići takvo savršenstvo živi u celibatu. Sada ću ti ukratko objasniti ovaj proces kojim se može dostići spasenje.
TEXT 12:
The yogic situation is that of detachment from all sensual engagements. Closing all the doors of the senses and fixing the mind on the heart and the life air at the top of the head, one establishes himself in yoga.
STIH 12:
Yogī se odriče svih osjetilnih djelatnosti. Zatvarajući sva vrata osjetila i usredotočujući um na srce, uzdigavši životni zrak do vrha glave, utemeljuje se u yogi.
TEXT 13:
After being situated in this yoga practice and vibrating the sacred syllable oṁ, the supreme combination of letters, if one thinks of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and quits his body, he will certainly reach the spiritual planets.
STIH 13:
Ako osoba koja izgovara sveti slog oṁ, vrhovni spoj slova, utemeljena u takvoj yogi napusti tijelo misleći na Svevišnju Božansku Osobu, sigurno će dostići duhovne planete.
TEXT 14:
For one who always remembers Me without deviation, I am easy to obtain, O son of Pṛthā, because of his constant engagement in devotional service.
STIH 14:
Onaj tko se uvijek, bez odstupanja, sjeća Mene, lako Me može dostići, o Pṛthin sine, zahvaljujući neprestanu predanom služenju.
TEXT 15:
After attaining Me, the great souls, who are yogīs in devotion, never return to this temporary world, which is full of miseries, because they have attained the highest perfection.
STIH 15:
Dostigavši Mene, velike duše, koje su yogīji puni predanosti, nikada se više ne vraćaju u ovaj privremeni svijet pun bijeda, jer su dostigle najviše savršenstvo.
TEXT 16:
From the highest planet in the material world down to the lowest, all are places of misery wherein repeated birth and death take place. But one who attains to My abode, O son of Kuntī, never takes birth again.
STIH 16:
Svi planeti u materijalnom svijetu, od najvišeg do najnižeg, mjesta su patnje na kojima se odvija uzastopno rađanje i umiranje, ali onaj tko dostigne Moje prebivalište, o Kuntīn sine, nikada se više ne rađa.
TEXT 17:
By human calculation, a thousand ages taken together form the duration of Brahmā’s one day. And such also is the duration of his night.
STIH 17:
Prema ljudskom proračunu Brahmin dan traje tisuću milenija, a toliko traje i njegova noć.
TEXT 18:
At the beginning of Brahmā’s day, all living entities become manifest from the unmanifest state, and thereafter, when the night falls, they are merged into the unmanifest again.
STIH 18:
Na početku Brahmina dana sva se živa bića očituju iz neočitovanog stanja i kada padne noć ponovno se stapaju s neočitovanim.
TEXT 19:
Again and again, when Brahmā’s day arrives, all living entities come into being, and with the arrival of Brahmā’s night they are helplessly annihilated.
STIH 19:
Iznova i iznova, s dolaskom Brahmina dana, sva se živa bića rađaju, a s dolaskom Brahmine noći bivaju bespomoćno uništena.
TEXT 20:
Yet there is another unmanifest nature, which is eternal and is transcendental to this manifested and unmanifested matter. It is supreme and is never annihilated. When all in this world is annihilated, that part remains as it is.
STIH 20:
A ipak, postoji druga, neočitovana priroda, vječna i transcendentalna prema ovoj očitovanoj i neočitovanoj materiji. Ta vrhovna priroda nikada ne biva uništena. Kada sve u ovom svijetu bude uništeno, taj dio ostaje takav kakav jest.
TEXT 21:
That which the Vedāntists describe as unmanifest and infallible, that which is known as the supreme destination, that place from which, having attained it, one never returns – that is My supreme abode.
STIH 21:
Ono što vedāntisti opisuju kao neočitovano i besprijekorno, ono što je poznato kao vrhovno odredište, mjesto iz kojeg se osoba, kada ga jednom dostigne, nikada više ne vraća – to je Moje vrhovno prebivalište.
TEXT 22:
The Supreme Personality of Godhead, who is greater than all, is attainable by unalloyed devotion. Although He is present in His abode, He is all-pervading, and everything is situated within Him.
STIH 22:
Svevišnji Gospodin, koji je najveći od svih, može se dostići neokaljanom predanošću. Iako prebiva u Svom prebivalištu, sve prožima i sve počiva u Njemu.
TEXT 23:
O best of the Bhāratas, I shall now explain to you the different times at which, passing away from this world, the yogī does or does not come back.
STIH 23:
O najbolji od Bhārata, sada ću ti opisati različita vremena u koja yogī može napustiti ovaj svijet. O njima ovisi hoće li se ili neće vratiti.
TEXT 24:
Those who know the Supreme Brahman attain that Supreme by passing away from the world during the influence of the fiery god, in the light, at an auspicious moment of the day, during the fortnight of the waxing moon, or during the six months when the sun travels in the north.
STIH 24:
Oni koji su spoznali Vrhovni Brahman dostižu Svevišnjega napuštajući svijet za vrijeme utjecaja boga vatre, u svjetlosti, u povoljnu trenutku dana, za vrijeme dvotjednog razdoblja kada mjesec raste ili za vrijeme šest mjeseci kada se sunce kreće sjevernom stranom.
TEXT 25:
The mystic who passes away from this world during the smoke, the night, the fortnight of the waning moon, or the six months when the sun passes to the south reaches the moon planet but again comes back.
STIH 25:
Mistik koji napusti ovaj svijet za vrijeme dima, u noći, za vrijeme dvotjednog razdoblja kada se mjesec smanjuje ili šest mjeseci kada se sunce kreće južnom stranom, odlazi na Mjesec, ali se ponovno vraća.
TEXT 26:
According to Vedic opinion, there are two ways of passing from this world – one in light and one in darkness. When one passes in light, he does not come back; but when one passes in darkness, he returns.
STIH 26:
Prema vedskom mišljenju osoba može napustiti ovaj svijet na dva načina – u svjetlosti i u tami. Kada ga napusti u svjetlosti, ne vraća se; no kada ga napusti u tami, vraća se.
TEXT 27:
Although the devotees know these two paths, O Arjuna, they are never bewildered. Therefore be always fixed in devotion.
STIH 27:
Iako bhakte znaju ta dva puta, o Arjuna, nikada nisu zbunjeni. Stoga uvijek budi utemeljen u predanosti.
TEXT 28:
A person who accepts the path of devotional service is not bereft of the results derived from studying the Vedas, performing sacrifices, undergoing austerities, giving charity or pursuing philosophical and fruitive activities. Simply by performing devotional service, he attains all these, and at the end he reaches the supreme eternal abode.
STIH 28:
Onaj tko prihvati put predanog služenja ne biva lišen rezultata koji se dobivaju proučavanjem Veda, izvođenjem žrtvovanja, vršenjem strogosti, davanjem milostinje ili vršenjem filozofskih i plodonosnih djelatnosti. Samim predanim služenjem dostiže sve to i na kraju odlazi u vrhovno vječno prebivalište.
